Info Post

The top news from the week that was:

1.) R.I.P. Sidney Lumet
The great director of films like Dog Day Afternoon, Network, 12 Angry Men, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, and Serpico passed away Saturday at the age of 86. Though he never won a Best Director Oscar, Lumet undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the film industry—just look at the amazing performances he managed to get out of each and every one of his actors. Talent like that will certainly be missed.

2.) Michael Shannon vs. Henry Cavill in Man of Steel
Zack Snyder's Superman project is quickly surpassing The Amazing Spider-Man in the "I'm Already Really Sick of This Project" category. I mean, every other day it feels like we're getting casting news or new rumors, and I don't think anything or anybody can get me over my trepidation of Zack Snyder helming this picture.

3.) Medieval Fantasy and Pot Don't Mix Well
Easily one of the biggest critical and commercial disappointments of the year is Your Highness. Though I thought Pineapple Express was overrated, I still expected David Gordon Green's latest stoner comedy to entertain. By all accounts, I didn't—not even close. And the film came in an embarrassing 6th at the box office this past weekend, behind fellow new releases Hanna (2nd), Arthur (3rd), and Soul Surfer (4th). Oops.
