Tonight, I am going to recommend a book. Dear Cary, My Life With Cary Grant.
It's by Dyan Cannon whom most of you know as an actress (Bob, Carol, Ted & Alice; Death Trap; Author, Author; The Last Of Sheila; That Darn Cat (remake with Christina Ricci); etc.). She was married to Grant and the mother of his only child (Jennifer Grant.)
It was not an easy marriage.
I am a big fan of Cary Grant movies. He is probably one of my favorite actors, maybe my favorite.
I was also curious as to how Dyan would tell the story. Until Sonny & Cher's divorce, I think Dyan and Cary had the nastiest divorce.
I was surprised by how involving the book was.
She came off very honest. Especially with regards to her career and disappointments (pressured to get a nose job which her parents objected to and fortunately so did the doctor Dyan ended up seeing). Also with regards to when she loses her grip and requires some medical help to get back on track.
What I loved best was what she worked to with the ending. I won't spoil it in any way but just tell you that many books claim to be a journey but this one really is.
